Well overdue. Part II

If you have been following along with my posts, you know that I have been knee deep in paint, brushes, and rollers for the last few weeks trying to spruce up my apartment. I finished the hallway last week and next on the list is the bedroom. For 10 years now I have been sleeping in boring white bedroom with awful light blocking mauve curtains. This room as in desperate need of color (and sunshine).

BORING! (and this is after I rearranged all of the furniture)

I found that the bedroom was a lot harder to do. Because I have accumulated a lot of crap over the 10 years living here, there is no floor space against a wall that has not been taken. I could only do one wall per day because I had to move all of the furniture away from the walls or out into the rest of the apartment to make room for painting. The whole house looked like a bomb went off for almost a week. The worst part was having to sleep on the couch.
I also painted all of the trim, replaced the socket plates, washed the blinds (tub full of hot water and laundry detergent did the trick, and they smell so nice now!) and bought some sheer white curtains to complete the look.

Much more serene!

This time I chose Behr's English Channel. I really liked the dark blue, but I thought that it might be too dark for the whole room, so I painted the main wall the darker blue then I poured a bunch of white into the can and painted the rest the lighter blue (well slightly lighter).
Now I find myself gravitating to this end of the apartment way more than ever before. It's almost as if I can breathe easier in here. (or maybe its just the lack of dust bunnies living under the bed now)

Next up, the dreaded living room. If I am not in the studio, that is where I spend most of my time.  I feel that painting this room will make the biggest impact on the look and feel of the entire apartment. I still haven't  picked out a color yet, but I have something in mind. Part III soon to come...
